– Fredericksburg, Texas – The heart of the Texas Wine Country

– Government Canyon State Natural Area

– Medina Lake – The cabin is a 20-minute drive to the most popular part of Medina Lake which features restaurants, beachfront and several marinas for family enjoyment

– Lost Maples State Natural area – One of the most beautiful places in Texas. Famous for watching the leaves change color in the Fall, abundant wildflowers, steep canyon walls and the scenic Sabinal River

– Bandera, Texas – The Cowboy Capital of the World

– Camp Verde General Store

– Boerne, TX (pronounced “Bernie”)

– Center Point

– Kerrville

– Kerrville Folk Festival

– Rumble on the River Biker Rally

– Cactus Rose Ultra & Trail Relay

If you want to get away from civilization and recharge in the wild, Government Canyon State Natural Area is only 25 minutes away. This 12,000-acre wilderness that protects San Antonio’s drinking water is a vast refuge from city life. Government Canyon State Natural Area offers more than 40 miles of trails. You can also attend a program or guided hike, geocache, picnic, take nature photos, and look for birds and other wildlife. The trails cross gently rolling grasslands and remote, rugged canyon-lands which you can explore by hiking, mountain biking, or even trail running.

If wildlife is your passion, there are many species to spot in the area. White-tailed deer, bobcat, cotton-tailed rabbit, javelina, coyote, raccoon, ringtail, butterflies and numerous snakes live in the area. Government Canyon is also a good place to find many popular bird species. In the spring, look for painted buntings, summer tanagers, and even the endangered golden-cheeked warbler.

Endangered species
Habitats in the area harbor several species listed as endangered.

Scientists have found six of the nine endangered karst invertebrates of Bexar County. These include three spiders: Government Canyon bat cave meshweaver, Government Canyon bat cave spider, and the Madla Cave meshweaver.

The endangered Golden-cheeked warblers nest only in mixed Ashe-juniper and oak woodlands in ravines and canyons of Central Texas. They come to Texas in March to nest and raise their young, and leave in July to spend the winter in Mexico and Central America. This warbler is the only bird species that nests exclusively in Texas – it’s a native Texan! And a sight to behold.

Unveiled Vacation Rentals

Welcome Home

Since 2017, Unveiled Vacation Rentals has been providing a first-class service to our guests; just look at our guest reviews. Our goal is to help people find their perfect short-term rental property in popular vacation destinations.

Hill Country Wineries & Tours

There are over 50 unique and beautiful wineries scattered throughout the Texas Hill Country visited by over 1 Million people each year. From Fredericksburg to San Saba to Round Rock to San Antonio, there is a winery and a wine for everyone at any time of year.

Pro Sports

The city's only top-level professional sports team, and consequently the city's most loved team, is the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs who now play at the AT&T Center, have called San Antonio home since 1973 and have won five NBA Championships. San Antonio is also home to the Double-A Minor League Baseball affiliate of the San Diego Padres, the San Antonio Missions, who play at Nelson Wolff Stadium on the west side of the city.

San Antonio Riverwalk

In San Antonio, our roots run deep. Deep in the heart of downtown. And while the River Walk is our most popular attraction, there’s so much more to explore. The Alamo, Museums, theatres and art schools liven the scene with art collections, musical and theater performances and classes for the students at heart. And markets fill the streets with local shops, eateries and public artwork to enjoy. Come eat, drink, shop and explore what’s new in downtown.

Haute Cuisine to BBQ
to Taco Trucks

There’s a lot more to San Antonio than the Alamo and Riverwalk, and there’s a lot more to San Antonio’s food scene than Tex-Mex and barbecue. San Antonio Is the Food Destination You Didn’t Know You Needed to Visit. San Antonio was the second American city to be designated a Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO, the branch of the United Nations that designates World Heritage Sites. Just in time to celebrate its tricentennial, San Antonio has become a go-to place to sample chicken fried oysters, chorizo burgers, and tacos of all styles from hundreds of unique restaurants.

Military City, USA

One of the most important concentrations of military bases in America is located in San Antonio. Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston is also the nation’s largest medical center. We are proud to host the families of the 39,000 military students who graduate each year from military training each year. It is our way of life, and we love training, equipping, and caring for America’s troops. We are Military City USA. We couldn’t be prouder.

Theme Parks

From the big parks, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Seaworld San Antonio to the more specialized like Morgan’s Wonderland, Legoland Discovery Center and Kiddie Park if you want a vintage vibe and fun for the kids at the same time, San Antonio’s theme parks are World Class and there is something for everyone.

Historical Missions

Alamo Plaza houses one of the city’s five Spanish colonial missions, the Alamo, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On Main Plaza, the San Fernando Cathedral houses the oldest, continuously functioning religious community since 1731.

Arts

Whether it’s a First Friday at the Blue Star Arts Complex or Second Saturdays in Southtown, San Antonio boasts a robust art community. While those traditions present ideal opportunities to get familiar with the art scene, San Antonio’s museums and longstanding institutions can be visited nearly every day, ranging from natural history and early Texana to worldly relics and contemporary art from the Alamo City and far beyond.

Culture

San Antonio and the Hill Country are extremely diverse. Our roots run deep and the convergence of our many cultures is celebrated. Influences originate from a range of cultures including Mexican, Spanish, German, Irish and Czechoslovakian and many others – and our appreciation of that diversity makes our city shine. We !Viva! for Fiesta, wear silver and black for our Spurs, and beam with pride in our distinction of Military City USA. Really, we can turn any occasion into a celebration. And, we’re proud of that, too. Come discover what’s old and explore what’s new in our diverse communities, offerings and celebrations – book your next trip today and come see what we mean.
